The union cabinet announced Rs 500 cr for the police infrastructure in Naxal belt of the country. The government approved the creation of new anti-Naxal force, COBRA (Combat Battalion for Resolute Action) with 10000 personnel to terminate naxal force in the country.

The roads would also be built in the Naxal affected areas to increase the mobility of police. The centre would bear all charges for developing the infrastructure in jungles.

The scheme is announced following the recommendations of the ministry of home affaires. The ministry also advised the government to strengthen the armory at each jail to avoid the jailbreaks incidences.

The Union Cabinet also announced to create of 48 new posts of special director-general, additional director general and inspector-general in various central police organizations of the country. This is aimed to improve the functionality of the police after the increased rate of crime and terrorism incidences in some parts of the country.
