Ukraine crisis: EU ministers say Russia must cooperate or face new sanctions

William-HagueWashington, May 23 : Russia has been warned by several European foreign ministers that it will face further sanctions by the West if it fails to cooperate with Ukraine's proposed peace plan.

The ministers also threatened Russia against moving arms and militants across its border into eastern Ukraine.

According to ABC News, British Foreign Secretary William Hague said Monday in Luxembourg the European Union will be able to agree further sanctions against Russia at a summit of the bloc's 28 leaders Friday, if necessary.

Meanwhile, Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt accused Russia of conducting a propaganda war with full speed ahead and no signs of their closing the border, saying that Russia must face further sanctions unless it changes course, the report said.

Up till now, the EU has ordered only visa bans and asset freezes for a list of officials.

The situation will be reviewed by EU leaders this Friday. (ANI)
