UK might restrict new wind farms

UK might restrict new wind farmsAccording to some indications, the government in the UK might be looking to restrict the opening of new wind farms.

UK’s Energy Minister John Hayes recently expressed that the UK already has enough of wind farms. He reportedly said that says "enough is enough" and that the country is "peppered" by the farms. The minister has ordered a new analysis into the wind farms and their impact on the local communities.

Mr Hayes said that country already has sufficient number wind turbines in the planning stages to meet the targets set by the government for generating wind energy and said that he can look to protect the green land of the UK. About 4,000 turbines are expected to be built across the country in future, according to estimates.

The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) is already conducting a review of the wind farms. However, Mr Hayes indicated that he will order studies into noise that turbines create and their relationship with the landscape. Mr Hayes was speaking at to the Renewables UK event on renewable energy on Tuesday.

The UK government has repeatedly said that it is committed to use renewable energy as one part of its energy policy.
