Twitter deletes Jobs’ parody account
After its fact tract action to approve and verify Charlie Sheen's account, Twitter has suspended a fake account of Apple boss Steve Jobs. This Twitter account was a parody account and was available at @CEOSteveJobs. According to reports, this account had 4, 60,000 followers and around 650 tweets when it was deleted by Twitter staff.
According to media reports, Apple Inc asked Twitter to delete this account as this account is a violation of Twitter's parody policy. As per Twitter's parody policy, account holder should clearly state in account name that its a parody account.
Apple told Twitter that this account confuses users with the real account. It not only misguides other users but somewhere harms company's reputation also. Twitter's policy clearly states that if a user is intended to create a parody account, his bio should clear that account does not belong to the real personality. As per Twitter's user policy which prohibits users from creating misleading accounts of famous people,” The bio should include a statement to distinguish it from the real identity, such as "This is a parody," "This is a fan page," "Parody Account". Other classification for such accounts include Fan Account, Role-Playing Account or a clear statement "This Account is not affiliated with...".
It is assumed that Twitter suspended account in these considerations, as there is no clarification from Twitter about deletion.
