Twinkies likely to come back in JulyAccording to an update on the Hostess' website, the much loved Twinkies are likely to return to shelves in the United Sates during the month of July this year.

The new owners of Hostess have indicated that the company will soon reopen bakeries in Indiana and Illinois enabling the return of Twinkies and Ho Hos to the market shelves. The company had earlier said that it will open bakeries in Georgia and Kansas as part of its efforts to re-launch some of the popular brands of products from the company.

The earlier owners had filed for bankruptcy protection in 2012 after years of turmoil. The management had decided to halt business following a nationwide strike by workers. The company is now owned by now owned by the private equity firms Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Co and it is describing the return of the product in the market as `the sweetest comeback in the history of ever.'

Daren Metropoulos, principal of Metropoulos & Co., said in a statement that, "America wanted Hostess back -- they wanted the original. Very soon consumers will once again be able to enjoy Twinkies, CupCakes and other great Hostess snack cakes. A comeback by any other name could never be as sweet."

The products disappeared from the market as Hostess moved to liquidate and sell off its assets in bankruptcy court due to a strike by workers. Private equity groups Apollo Global Management and Metropolis had paid $410 million to buy the Hostess and Dolly Madison snack cake lines and five plants under the liquidation process. The company is now working to revive operations and bring back Twinkies, Ho Hos and other popular snack cakes to the markets this year.
