Toyota closes Fortuner bookings
As the company saw the order backlog crossing the figure of 6,000 units it has announced the closure of booking process for its SUV Fortuner in the Indian market.
While the bookings are expected reopen only in January next year, the company is trying everything possible to increase the production of the model to meet the high consumer demand in the Indian market.
The world's largest carmaker has received an overwhelming response from the Indian consumer so far and it is believed that the product will continue to bank similar numbers even in the coming months. It is to be mentioned here that the bookings for the Fortuner were reopened between the 1st and 31st of July, which got the company an additional 3,004 bookings.
The company is confident of the fact that it will be able to clear the backlog on the product by the end of this year and will resume the booking process by January 2011.
While the company had decided to produce 500 units of the model initially on a monthly basis, it has increased its production and is currently producing 1,000 units per month.
