Three top US senators to observe Pak polls
Washington, Feb. 16: Three prominent senators are travelling to Pakistan to observe the February 18 election, the Daily Times has reported.
Senator Joseph Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, together with senior panel members John Kerry and Chuck Hagel, will observe the elections. Their trip also includes visits to Afghanistan, India and Turkey.
Meanwhile, Senator Biden has introduced a non-binding resolution calling for an independent investigation into Benazir Bhutto’s death; free and fair elections; a release of political prisoners; and a revocation of the recent restrictions placed on the press and free speech, a Capitol Hill report said.
