There is no recall of Swift in India: Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki India is making improvements in the software of its widely popular Swift car in response to several customer complaints of poor braking at low speeds, but the manufacturer denied any recall of the affected cars.
Since August 2011, Maruti Suzuki has sold as many as 2.5 lakh new Swifts in the India, but a number of customer filed complaints about poor braking at low speeds of around 10-15 km per hour, which could lead to potential safety hazards on the road.
The brake pedal in the car tends to get hard and driver feels loss in braking performance in congested city traffic.
Following months of complaints on the issue, Maruti Suzuki has asked selective customers to get the software in the engine control unit checked at approved dealerships to rectify any issue. But, the manufacturer denied any technical recall of the popular hatchback.
In response to a query, the manufacturer said, "There is no recall of Swift in India. We have no issued any technical or engineering checks on the car so far."
Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the apex body of auto manufacturers in the country, has also confirmed that there has been no hint of any technical recall on the new Swift hatchback from Maruti Suzuki India.
