Tesla achieves record-breaking total EV deliveries in Q4 2023

In a monumental achievement, American electric car pioneer Tesla Motors has unveiled its Q4 2023 production and delivery report, revealing that it not only exceeded its annual sales target but also achieved its best-ever sales in its history. However, amidst these triumphs, the American company also was trumped first time by the Chinese giant BYD in terms of sales.

As per stats revealed by Tesla for the three-month period of Q4 2023, the company delivered an astonishing number of 484,507 electric cars, marking a significant milestone. The Model 3 and Model Y accounted for the bulk of those deliveries, totaling 461,538. This figure showcases the continued popularity of the world-renowned brand’s more affordable models. Deliveries of the premium Model S and Model X jumped to 22,969 units, with Cybertruck sales likely included in the "other models" category.

When it comes to production, Tesla’s combined vehicle production for Q4 2023 reached 494,989 units. The breakdown reveals that the Model 3 and Model Y accounted for 476,777 units of the total production figures, while the Model S, Model X, and some Cybertruck units contributed to the remaining 18,212 units.

Using its official Twitter account, the EV giant stated, "In Q4, we produced approximately 495k vehicles & delivered over 484k vehicles."

The full-year 2023 figures showcase remarkable growth, with deliveries reaching 1.81 million units, reflecting a 38 per cent year-over-year increase. Concurrently, production for the year jumped by 35 per cent to 1.85 million vehicles.

The breakdown of the annual figures emphasizes the dominance of the Model 3 and Model Y, with 1,739,707 deliveries, while the "other models," primarily consisting of the Model S and Model X, contributed 68,874 deliveries. Notably, the successful integration of the Cybertruck into the "other models" category adds to the diverse product lineup.

Tesla expressed gratitude to customers, employees, suppliers, shareholders, and supporters, acknowledging their collective contribution to a stellar 2023. The company's relentless pursuit of innovation and sustainability has propelled it to the forefront of the electric vehicle market.

Looking back at the third quarter of the recently passed 2023, where Tesla fell short of expectations with 435,059 worldwide deliveries, the performance in the fourth quarter represents a really remarkable growth. The new quarterly delivery record of 484,507 units surpassed the company’s previous record (that was set in Q2 2023) by an impressive 18,367 units, solidifying its position as a leader in the EV landscape.
