The Commission wrote to the Chief Secretary and ordered posting of Amaresh Pujari, IPS, as DIG, Madurai Range; Prem Anand Sinha, IPS, as S.P. Madurai and Praveen Kumar Abhinapu, IPS, as Deputy SP and sought compliance from the State Government by 10 a.m. on Friday.
Commission sources said that the transfers were ordered on the report sent by the State Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta as a measure for ensuring free and fair polls.

On Thursday afternoon, Assam's major city Guwahati was rocked by three bomb blasts in which five people were dead and almost 51 others injured just hours before Union Home Minister P Chidambaram reached in the city.
Total of three bomb blasts were of low intensity and are thought to have been carried out by the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) using improvised explosive device (IED).

Defence personnels are not happy with the setting of the separate pay commission by the government and have criticized it adversely.
The separate pay commission for the armed forces shall be the seventh pay commission, which shall be operative after 10 years. This announcement has been opposed by all the defence personnels.
