Vice President condemns Mehrauli blast

Hamid AnsariNew Delhi, Sept 27 : Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari has condemned the blast that occurred today at a flower market in Mehrauli area of New Delhi.

He expressed deep anguish that the blast has caused fatalities and casualties among innocent people, especially young children who were present at the blast site.

The Vice President said that such mindless and reprehensible acts of violence are intended to disturb peace and impede our national progress.

He also appealed the people to maintain calm and expressed his sympathy for the families of those killed and injured.

Myanmarese commemorate ''Saffron Revolution'' anniversary in New Delhi

New Delhi, Sept 27 : Scores of Myanmarese nationals gathered in New Delhi on Saturday to take out a march to commemorate the first anniversary of ‘Saffron Revolution’, when thousands of monks marched down the streets of Rangoon to call for democratic change.

Myanmar or Burma''s military regime had brutally cracked down on one of the most powerful and peaceful demonstration led by thousands of Buddhist monks and nuns in
2007.

The revolution came to be known as “Saffron Revolution” – named after the colour of the robes worn by the militant young monks spearheading the protests.

New Delhi, Sept 27 : Eyewitnesses of today’s bomb blast in Mehrauli, in which around seven people are feared dead, said that two young men wearing full mask helmets came riding on a black motorcycle and threw two packets wrapped in newspapers in a busy market near Andheria Mode in Mehrauli area.

15 injured in explosion in Delhi market

New DelhiNew Delhi - At least 15 people were injured in an explosion in a market in Indian capital New Delhi on Saturday, media reports said.

The explosion occurred in a shop in the flower market in the southern Mehrauli area at 2.15 pm (8.45 am GMT), NDTV network reported.

Witnesses told the news channel that it was a "big" bomb-blast and the explosive was planted by two men on a motorcycle.

But the police did not confirm whether it was a terrorist attack and were investigating the nature of the explosion.

Firemen, ambulances and police teams rushed to the scene.
