London - The debate erupted anew in Britain Friday on whether to end centuries of discrimination against women and Roman Catholics in rules governing the accession to the throne.

The government confirmed that Prime Minister Gordon Brown had discussed reform of the 308-year-old law on succession with Queen Elizabeth II during his weekly audiences with her.

Bosses of Deva Kumarasiri, 40, told him that his "services were no longer needed".

The decision has sparked fury among Deva's supporters. Deva declares: "I believe what I did was right. I don't regret it."

Brown during his visit to Brazil earlier had already hinted towards a need for such reforms.

London - A top medical research journal Friday urged Pope Benedict XVI to retract his "distorting" comments on the use of condoms in the fight against HIV/AIDS disease during his recent Africa tour.

The Lancet, regarded one of the world's most prestigious medical journals, said the pontiff's remarks were "wildly inaccurate" and could have "devastating consequences."

She was responding to recent reports that suggested that Ashlee and Pete’s marriage had hit a rough patch, as the latter was busy partying while Ashlee was left home looking after their three-month-old son Bronx.

"Ashlee and Pete are on the rocks. He is going out all the time and she''s stuck at home. It''s just not working,” the Daily Express quoted a source as saying earlier.
