Lahore, Nov 13: Pakistan Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has reportedly found the involvement of senior bureaucrats and politicians in the Khanani and Kalia (K and K) foreign currency scandal.

Ex-NATO commander says US should let Pak tackle militancy on its own soil

Washington, Nov 13: Former NATO commander Wesley Clark has reportedly advised the US to let Pakistan act against Taliban on its soil.

Advising caution against the US’ overt attacks on targets on the Pakistani side of the Afghan border, Clark, who is a staunch supporter of President-elect Barack Obama, urged anti-terrorism help for Pakistan as well as a broader approach to regional security that should take into account tensions over Kashmir.

“I think it is a dangerous thing for stability in the region to be too heavily overtly involved there. But, on the other hand, Pakistan needs support and assistance. And its government and military are in a very tough fight,” the Daily Times quoted him as saying.

Musharraf to deliver lecture in Oxford University next month

Former Pakistan president Pervez MusharrafKarachi, Nov 13: Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf has said that he has accepted an offer to deliver lecture at the Oxford University. He would be visiting the university in December or January.

He also said that he was offered lectureships from various universities of Europe and America.

“I have not really taken a decision, except for Oxford University, where I will be lecturing in the last week of December or the first week of January 2009,” the Daily Times quoted him as saying.

Iranian diplomat in Pakistan kidnapped, guard killedPeshawar, Nov 13: The Commercial Attaché of Iranian Consulate, Hashmatullah Atharzadeh, has been kidnapped from Hayatabad on Thursday after unknown gunmen killed his guard.

Police sources said that Atharzadeh was traveling towards his office from his home when his vehicle was intercepted by some unknown armed men who took him hostage and on resistance gunned down his guard identified as Sajjad, before fleeing from the scene.

The kidnapping comes one day after a USAID worker was shot dead in Peshawar

Iranian diplomat kidnapped in Pakistan's north-west

PakistanIslamabad - Gunmen on Thursday ambushed a car carrying an Iranian diplomat in north-western Pakistan and kidnapped the official after killing his guard, police and media reports said.

The diplomat was seized when he was travelling to the Iranian consulate in Peshawar, the capital of the troubled North West Frontier Province.

A police officer said the kidnappers intercepted the vehicle in the upscale Hayatabad neighbourhood and shot dead a police guard before whisking the official and his driver away.
