Astonishingly, 15 pc Karachites support suicide bombings

Karachi, Aug 28 : In a startling revelation, two separate studies conducted by faculty and students at the Aga Khan University in Karachi have found that around 15 percent of the people supported suicide bombing, and said that Islam and other religions supported it.

The two studies looked into the attitudes toward suicide bombing among educated people in Karachi and in the tribal areas. Both found surprisingly divergent results, reported the Daily Times.

Pakistan extends daylight saving time through October Islamabad  - Energy-strapped Pakistan on Wednesday decided to extend the daylight saving time till October end as prolonged power cuts triggered violent protests throughout the country.

Clocks were set forward by an hour on June 1 for three months to save electricity by benefiting from longer daylight. The move placed the local time six hours ahead of the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

“With regards to Pakistan presidency, that is really very much an internal Pakistani matter. The Pakistanis will have to determine who their next president will be,” the Daily Times quoted State Department deputy spokesman Robert Wood as saying.
