Gunfire erupts for third day across Kashmir border

Srinagar, India - Pakistani troops fired across the line of control that divides India- and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, Indian defence sources said Wednesday.

The incident took place in the Kupwara sector of the line of control, the de-facto border, sources in the Jammu and Kashmir state capital Srinagar said. More details were awaited, they added.

Fierce clashes between Indian and Pakistani troops along the border on Monday and Tuesday left one Indian soldier dead.

The fighting that lasted more than 16 hours stopped Tuesday, and a meeting was held between Indian and Pakistani troops.

Washington, July 30: Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has denied reports that he had a role in the ISI, of first putting under the control of Prime Minister and then back under interior minister’s purview, and said that those who would be found guilty for it would be punished.

Malik said that he had absolutely nothing to do with the controversial notification to take over ISI and IB, and that when he returns to Pakistan he would see that some heads roll immediately for this blunder, reported The News.

According to him, the notification was issued by some bureaucrats, including some from ISI, without getting proper approvals from competent authorities and he would see to it that those responsible were held accountable.
