Tata announces free inspection of Nano
Indian automobile major, Tata Motors said on Saturday that from Monday all the owners of Tata Nano will be contacted for free inspection of their cars.
This practice will go on for a few weeks and the owners will not have to spend a penny for getting their cars checked.
The study is part of the comprehensive investigations that are being done by Tata. The exercise was started when some of the Tata Nanos caught fire earlier during this year.
But Tata Motors also clarified that in any case these steps are not recall of the cars, but only investigation and if needed correction of the faults.
In the statement, the company said, "On the basis of the findings of the investigation, conducted by a 20-member internal team and an independent forensic expert, Tata Motors assures all customers that the Tata Nano is a safe car, with a robust design and state-of-the-art components."
Some distant incidents of Nano catching fire have taken place during March and April. The company has accepted that the two incidents-one in Mumbai and other in Gujarat- were the effects of technological defects.
