The Taj MahalAgra: According to Munazzar Ali, an official of the archeological survey of India (ASI), the Taj Mahal was reopened to visitants on Thursday after tragic incidents that left behind one dead and dozens injured in India’s top tourist destination.

The authorities told that all the three gates of the Taj Mahal were thrown open early Thursday to welcome travelers. A senior officer stated the mausoleum is again open and the arena adjoining the grand complex is normal and peaceful.

No disruptions were reported since Wednesday evening when large parts of Agra were put under curfew. The police officer emphasizes that tourists do not have to delay their tour to the Taj Mahal.

The police official informed that the curfew wasn’t lifted in three regions in the wake of Wednesday’s violence outbreak, and various public organizations are being closed down until Saturday,

A road accident evidently sparked a violence riot in the city situated on the banks of the Yamuna River in UP. Lots of angry Muslims came out to the streets when a young person from their community was run over by a vehicle as he was coming back from the evening prayer.

Police forces intervened to stem an outbreak of violence, but the condition rapidly grows worse and protesters attacked the forces. Various cars were fired; an industrial unit was also burned down by the angry crowd, which attacked district police headquarters.

In the fights, one person was killed and several were injured after policemen clamped down on protesters using truncheons and even firing warning shots in the air. Peace was restored, but various security forces remained on the streets of Agra as a curfew was imposed in a few regions.

Wednesday’s disruptions gave a blow to the tourist business and actuated the administration to order a careful inquiry to avert more damage to the mentioned segment.
