Taiwan stocks rise 2 per cent on US rally, stimulus plan
Taipei - Taiwan's stocks ended 2.01 per cent higher Friday, bolstered by Wall Street's overnight rally and parliament's approval of an economic stimulus plan, dealers said. The main Taiex index closed at 5,781.96, up 114.16 points.
Dealers said parliament's approval of the 12-billion-US-dollar budget Friday for the government's four-year economic stimulus plan fuelled investor optimism. The plan was expected to boost domestic investment and create 200,000 jobs, the cabinet said. (dpa)
