Suzuki has no plans to withdraw operations from India

Suzuki has no plans to withdraw operations from IndiaJapan's Suzuki Motor Corp. has announced that it has no plans to withdraw its operations from India or stop production at Manesar plant despite suffering the one of worst case of industrial unrest in the company's history.

Agitating workers of Maruti Suzuki's Manesar plant in Haryana went violent on July 18th and killed one senior official and left nearly one hundred others injured.

Japanese manufacturer's Chairman Osamu Suzuki, who paid a visit to India in wake of the riots by workers at the Manesar plant, said that Suzuki wanted to maintain the love of India's citizens by producing more vehicles for them.

Confirming the company's stance, Mr. Suzuki said, "Japan's Suzuki has no plans to withdraw its operations from India."

Following the bloody riots, the management fired more than 500 of its 1,528 permanent workers who were allegedly involved in the riots. The riot-hit plant restarted production on 21st of August under a heavy police security.

During his visit, Mr. Suzuki met Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi and confirmed that the company had plans to start production in Gujarat sometime in 2015, subject to market conditions. However, he refused to reveal details of the company's plans in the state.
