Suzlon Group touches 1 GW milestone in UK

Suzlon Group touches 1 GW milestone in UKRenewable energy giant, Suzlon Energy Ltd has informed the stock exchange that it has surpassed the historic 1 GW milestone in UK.

REpower Systems, a unit of the group that produces onshore and offshore wind turbines, has touched the milestone of 1 gigawatt (GW) installed capacity across UK wind farms. REpower UK has now become the third company to cross the 1 gigawatt (GW) installed capacity in the UK. The company has added a significant number of wind farms to its portfolio in England, Scotland and Wales.

The company increased its capacity from 500-MW in the summer of 2010 to that above 1 gigawatt (GW) level in just two years' time in the UK. REpower, UK  is aiming to capture 25 per cent of the UK onshore market share and 30 per cent of the UK offshore market share by 2014, according to company. Andreas Nauen, CEO of REpower Systems SE said that reaching the milestone of 1 gigawatt (GW) shows that the UK is one of the core markets for the company.

We believe this is testament to the quality and reliability of Repower's turbine technology which is ideally suited to UK wind conditions both onshore and offshore.
