Suzlon Energy rises on BSE, after getting order for turbines
Suzlon Energy Ltd., the World's third largest wind turbine manufacturer, has announced that the company has received, seventh order for 31.5 MW capacity, from Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Ltd.
According to Suzlon, the order of 31.5-MW for the installation of S88-2.1 MW turbines in Rajasthan is the biggest order that the company has received till now. The project has been estimated to generate enough electricity, which can provide power to over 6,000 households.
Suzlon Energy's share price rose by 1.12% to Rs 85.95 after the company announced about the order on Wednesday, 9 December 2009. The stock has been outperforming in the market during the past one month, till 8 December 2009, which rose by 28.30% against the 6.62% rise in the Sensex. The company has not been doing well in the market in the last quarter, as it shrinked by
16.05% as compared with an increase by 6.85%, in the Sensex.
RE Power, Suzlon Energy's German unit, has got an order from enXco, a US based company, to deliver 70 wind turbines, on 7 December 2009. The 2.05 MW turbines will be delivered for a wind farm project in the US, in the year 2011. Suzlon Energy has a stake of 91% in RE Power.
Suzlon Energy has reported a net loss of Rs 184.91 crore in the second quarter of the year 2009 as compared with a net profit of Rs. 16.98 crore in the same quarter in the year 2008. The company has also registered a huge decline in the sales, which fell by 72.3% to Rs. 616.02 crore in second quarter, September 2009 as compared to the same quarter in the year 2008.
Suzlon got very few order due to the global financial crisis during this year, which led to the decline in its profit margins this year. The company has received a total of 1,488 MW including, 1,365 MW of international and 123 MW of domestic orders.
