Super sports car Veritas RS III hits the road
Nuerburgring, Germany - The niche German sports car maker Vermot AG is reviving the magic of Germany's first Formula 1 car with the Veritas RS III hitting the road in January next year with a limited run of 30 units.
The first five models have already been sold to owners in Monaco, Britain, Spain, Switzerland, Britain and Australia. The super car is listed at a price of 300,000 euros (451,000 dollars), that is without the customised extras.
Every single vehicle is hand built at the Vermot factory situated near the famous Nuerburgring racetrack and fitted with state-of the art technology. Power is supplied by the BMW M5 engine with an output of 373 kW/507 hp and a top speed of 347 km/h.
Coming at a weight of only 1,170 kilograms, the silver two-seater is catapulted from zero to 100 km/h in only 3.2 seconds.
The flat-shaped car differs little from the first study except for the rollover bar above the seat. The small windscreen is hardly visible with the large ovally-shaped front grille demonstrating an aggressive look.
The original Veritas, based on the BMW 328, celebrated a string of victories on the track in 1948. The Veritas Meteor, built in the pits of the Nuerburgring, was the first German Formula 1 car that took part in the Swiss Grand Prix in 1951. (dpa)
