Suicide bomber targets tribal police north of Baghdad
Baghdad - Four members of a tribal police force and two policemen were killed and 18 injured Monday in a suicide bombing north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
A suicide bomber riding a motorcycle targeted the head of a tribal police force known as the Awakening Council in the town of Taramiyah, police sources told the Voices of Iraq news agency.
All the wounded from members of the tribal police unit.
Awakening Councils are US-backed tribal police squads established in Iraq's Sunni-dominated areas to fight Sunni extremist groups loyal to the al-Qaeda terrorist network. (dpa)
