Subaru has recently upgrades its amazingly fast high-performance WRX STI with an even much faster special edition WRX STI 340R --- a model which is currently available only in the UK.

Boasting enhanced speed, the super quick WRX STI 340R boasts a turbocharged 2.5-litre boxer engine which is capable of producing a notably pounding 335 horsepower and 490 newton metres of torque.

The power upgrade of the special edition WRX STI 340R features different ECU settings which enable the 2.5-litre, four-cylinder boxer engine to produce extra power, while a new exhaust high-flow system improves the airflow, and – as per Subaru claims – unfolds for the drivers “a thrilling soundtrack and the iconic Subaru burble.”

Priced at an additional £1599 than the base model, the upgraded WRX STI 340R is an all-wheel-drive car’s 335bhp and 361 lb ft marks an increase of 39bhp and 61 lb ft over the high-performance WRX STI base car.

Noting that the WRX STI was “already an exciting car,” Darren James – the Subaru UK managing director – said at the launch of the upgraded model that enhanced power and torque, along with the distinctive Subaru exhaust note, make the vehicle all the more appealing.

About the WRX STI 340R power upgrade, James said that the special edition version “turns our most performance-oriented model into one of the most rapid and charismatic cars available in the UK.”
