States Demanded 50% Share In Central Taxes

The various state governments have demand the full implementation of federal principles in the country.  They asked for the revision of center state policy to achieve uniform growth in all parts of the country. They have asked the 13th Finance Commission to increase their share in taxes. The states are currently getting 30.5 percent of total taxes. They urged the finance commission to increase it to 50 percent.
 
A delegation of finance ministers of 15 states, met the chairman of finance commission, Vijay Kelkar on Tuesday. The leader of the delegation, Asim Dasgupta said that the share of states in the taxes, should be increased in order to carry out various development and administrative activities. The states also demande the revision of Centrally Sponsored Schemes.

Some state ministers also pointed out the need of revision of public distribution system (PDI) to tame the ever increasing inflation in the country.
