SRK Not To Receive “Datukship”!

SRK Not To Receive “Datukship”!It is learnt that ace Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan has deferred a contentious ceremony to award him a Malaysian "Knighthood" because he is too busy.

Earlier, Khan was expected to arrive here on November 29 to receive the “Datukship” title.

Along with 77 people, SRK was awarded the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM) last month by the state of Malacca. The award carries the title Datuk, which is considered parallel to a British knighthood. Bollywood actors do have a large number of their fans in Malaysia.

However, many people in the country do not prefer SRK for this prestigious award.

According to them, instead of SRK, this prestigious award should be given to the local artists and celebrities. Some had even questioned if the star knew where Malacca was.

On the condition of anonymity, a senior Malacca official said, “The ceremony has been postponed for now.”

It must be recalled that SRK movie ‘One 2 Ka 4’ in the year 2001 was filmed at a popular resort in Malacca. Since then, the number of tourists coming from India has increased considerably in the country.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties in Malaysia are criticizing the government move for awarding SRK. Speaking on this, opposition politician Lim Kit Siang, said, “The postponement of the award shows just how ridiculous it is to give such an award to Shah Rukh as Malaysia and the award most probably does not even picture on his radar.”

Apart from Hindi, Tamils films are also regularly released in theatres and on TV.
