Sports Direct staff to receive bonus worth £76,500
It is believed that the thousands of the staff members at shops operated Sports Direct might receive a bonus worth £76,500 after the retailing giant recorded a bumper profit.
The company recorded a 40 per cent rise in profits as it was able to attract more customers by slashing prices and revamping stores. The company might be planning o distribute millions of shares among 2,000 staff members, some of whom earn a basic salary of £20,000. The company said that its generous incentive scheme is one of the reasons for a 40 per cent rise in profits to £207.2million.
Dave Forsey, the chief executive officer of Sports Direct said, "The share scheme has been the glue to the performance. It has combined with better products, low prices and good value to deliver record results. If you have so many people linked to performance, from thousands in the back office to the shop floor, all driven by such an incentive, it is very powerful. Everyone is thinking about how they can challenge the business and they really do care about every aspect."
He said that the incentive prgraamme of the company is good for consumers and great for employees. He also added that the several retailers in other industries have asked the company for help in developing their own incentive programmes.
