Spill backlash could lift drilling cost, oil price

Spill-oilAs the US oil companies start the blame game after the BP oil spilling incident, the analysts believe that it would have a greater impact than what is seen as of now. And India, which is already suffering under heavy fuel inflation, will most probably, have to face the consequences.

It is expected that a bill of more than $10 billion that has been kept for cleaning of the oil spills from the US Gulf, is very less looking at the damage. These units are under BP.

The cost that is born to drill oil offshore is much higher than what is being spent now and that would eventually raise the oil price.

Deepwater output accounts for 9 per cent if the total oil produced in the world and researches have shown that this would become double of what it is at present.

That being the case, believe experts, the oil spill may not stop the production but will surely impact the current level. Also a lot of oil was wasted because of this and that too will have effects.
