Madrid  - Spanish police have detained 74 people on charges of owning and distributing child pornography, authorities said Thursday.

Nearly 600 police participated in the operation carried out in more than 30 provinces.

Police searched 130 addresses, seizing millions of files of pornographic images, some of which were described as showing abuse of very young children.

The detainees included one of the suspected producers of the images. Investigators trying to identify the producers and the victims were helped by police in other countries. (dpa)
