SpaceX will be flying its upgraded Falcon 9 for the first time this weekend

SpaceX has planned to launch its most powerful rocket so far on this Saturday. The launch will take place between 8 pm and 9 pm ET. During previous launch by SpaceX in June, a faulty rig known as a strut, busted in mid-launch, causing the breakdown of one of the fuel tanks, setting off a chain reaction that devastated the rocket and its unmanned Dragon spacecraft.

SpaceX has brought some major and exciting upgrades to its rockets since then. The aerospace company, which is founded and run by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, is going to fly its upgraded Falcon 9 first time ever on this weekend.

The upgrades have obviously received Musk's esteemed seal of approval. According to SpaceNews, during a December 15 talk at the American Geophysical Union's Fall Meeting, Musk said that he thinks it's a significantly upgraded rocket from the previous one.

The latest-and-modified Falcon 9 is now 229.6 feet in height and can generate up to 1.7 million pounds of thrust, which is a measurement unit for rocket power.

The trust is nearly 200,000 pounds more thrust as compared to previous SpaceX rockets - or slightly more power as compared to what is produced by one of SpaceX's Merlin rocket engines.

The Falcon 9 booster works on 9 such Merlin engines, thus the case is the company has got an additional engine's worth of power out of the latest modification.
