Sony launches its wireless MP3 player – Walkman NWZ-W202 – in India

Sony has rolled out its wireless MP3 player – NWZ-W202 – India. Sony MP3 player NWZ-W202 is a 2GB capacity headphone-style Walkman. Sony Walkman NWZ-W202 is free from headphone cables.

Sony Walkman NWZ-W202 comes with the easy-to-carry spiral form headphones that fit ideally on ears. The 13.5mm EX Headphones come with soft silicon earbuds. With new and unique 'Zappin' Function and Jog Dial Operation, the headphones let users listen to music and find songs easily.   
The 'Zappin' Function allows users to browse through tracks by ear by playing a snippet of the chorus of each song. The users are given option to choose between long (10 seconds) and short (4 seconds) settings for this mode. The users can press the jog button for listing to a song from the beginning. The headphones are equipped with a built-in Li-ion rechargeable battery, accepting USB-based charging. 

Sony Walkman NWZ-W202 offers multi audio codec support for MP3/AAC/WMA (DRM). The device offers 12 hours battery life, with quick charge battery, offering 90 minutes play back, with 3 minutes charge. Sony Walkman NWZ-W202 is priced at Rs. 4, 999, inclusive taxes.   

With its Walkman NWZ-W202, Sony is aiming to increase its MP3 market share to 30 percent in India. Sony is looking to sell 1.8 lakh MP3 walkman units by 2010 in India. Last year, Sony around 85,000 units, and currently its share in the Indian MP3 market of India is 20 percent.
