Snapdeal acquires Shopo.In

Snapdeal acquires Shopo.InIndian online retail firm, Snapdeal has said that it has acquired designer handcrafted items shopping website Shopo. In in a deal.

The company has not announced the financial details of the deal yet. Sellers on Shopo will be able to access a broader customer through Snapdeal. Shopo currently has a total of about 1,000 sellers on its platform and it offers handcrafted products across categories like apparel, accessories, home decor, among others.

Snapdeal Co-founder and CEO Kunal Bahl said, “The Indian designer and handicrafts market is large but highly fragmented and the demand for such products is tremendous. Snapdeal's mission is to provide a platform for small businesses across India to be able to sell to consumers nationally.”

Bahl also said that same merchandise offered by Shopo will be covered under TrustPay. He also said that the company will now offer these unique products at great prices to Snapdeal's 20 million members and it will be able to leverage Snapdeal's nationwide appeal.

Snapdealwas launched in February 2010 andit currently employs more than 1,500 people and caters to orders more than 5,000 cities and towns in India.
