Skoda India clocks over 200% growth in Q1 2010

Skoda-AutoA fully owned subsidiary of Skoda Auto A. S., Czech Republic and known as one of the most respected carmaker from the region, Skoda India has recently announced that the company has clocked a mind-boggling growth of over 213% for quarter ending March'10 as compared to the corresponding period last year.

It may be noted here that the company sold 5510 units against 2585 units for the same period last year. Clearly, banking on the success of the new Laura and Superb, the company has been able to hit the sweet spot of the Indian consumer and has attained a perfect start for the company in 2010.

However, it still has to prove its mettle in the small car segment where the Fabia has clearly failed to deliver for the company. But the response to the new Superb has been overwhelming as far as the volumes are concerned.

Moreover, experts believe the fact that the company opened boutique showrooms in destinations like Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata has spread a lot of positive word of mouth publicity for the company. In fact, the company plans to take this no. to 15 by the end of the current calendar year.
