Sister of Spanish princess denied protection from media

Queen's outburst sparks debate about monarchy in SpainMadrid- A Spanish court has rejected an appeal by the sister of
Spain's crown princess to block the media from airing images of her,
her companion and her baby.

Telma Ortiz had appealed a lower court's May ruling that it could
not block the airing of images of Ortiz, since she and her partner
participated in so many public acts, a reference to various royal
family events.

Ortiz's sister, Letizia, is married to Spain's Crown Prince Felipe.

The decision by the Toledo provincial court was made public
Tuesday. It agreed with the lower court, noting that Ortiz has a
"certain public projection." It noted that Ortiz has participated in
public events, like book launches, and has answered questions about her
private life.

Ortiz's case sought to block more than 50 media outlets from disseminating her image.

Ortiz was ordered to pay around 45,000 euros (58,000 dollars) in legal costs. (dpa)
