Shillong Chamber Choir is winner of India's Got Talent Season 2The second season of Colors’ popular reality show ‘India's Got Talent’ finally got its winner on Saturday in Mumbai. Shillong Chamber Choir won the coveted title and as a result a huge celebration started in Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya.

The vivacious drummer Teji Toko from Arunachal Pradesh was the first runner-up and a Sikh Martial Arts Group called ‘Bir Khalsa’ from Punjab, the second runner-up. The Shillong Chamber Choir won a Kawasaki 250cc Ninja bike and the grand prize-money of Rs. 50 lakhs.

Shillong, known as the ‘Rock Capital’ of India, lighted up with numerous fireworks as soon as the result was announced.

There were nine finalists on the Grand Finale night, which was judged by actress Sonali Bendre, Kirron Kher and Bollywood director Sajid Khan. However, the final decision was taken through public voting.

The winning team was congratulated by Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma. The CM was quoted saying that the victory has come as a big achievement for Meghalaya. He added that the state artists have shown their potential to the world and created history with this win.

Sangma was there in Mumbai to attend the Grand finale. He said that the young generation is a talented lot and just need proper platform to showcase their talents.

In 2001, the Shillong Chamber Choir was formed by its pianist Neil Nongkynrih. The singers of the group are Banlam, Ibarisha, Sandon, Donna, Jessica, Johanan, Kynsai, Patricia Doren Kevi, Daman, Ryan and Riewbankit.
