Sharp doubtful of survival after doubling loss predictionJapanese TV maker, Sharp has warned that it might not be able to survive on its own amid continuing difficult marketing conditions.

Sharp doubled its net loss estimates to $ 5.6 billion for the year and raised concerns about its continued survival as the company faces a difficult marketing condition indicating that the company is looking for forming an alliance with other companies.

"Our corporate group has booked massive second-quarter net and operating losses . and now sees a serious negative operating cash flow. This raises serious doubts about [our ability] to continue as a going concern," the company said in a statement.

Sharp has been holding discussions with Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd about making it the biggest shareholder in the company. Sharp said that it is expecting the discussions to be completed before the deadline of March but also indicated that it is also considering other alliances. Experts say that the company will not be able to continue operations in the 3 to 5 year period due to its difficult market situation.

Sharp CEO Takashi Okuda said, "We have lots of great technology and we want to tap that asset to revive and make money, but I can't say we are now a company with that vitality."
