Seven people killed in a blast at a mine in Russia

A methane blast has killed seven workers at a coal mine in western Siberia of Russia. The workers at the mine were taken out to open land but around 64 workers are still under the ground.

Four miners have been injured seriously so far. As per source there were around 312 workers under the surface at the time of blast. They were inside the Raspadskaya mine near Mezhdurechensk. The rescue operations are on. Many of the mines in the country are of very poor standards of safety and the standards have not been updated since fall of communism.

The mine where the blast took place is a very big coal mine of Russia and it is situated about 3500kms east of Moscow. This mine produces about 8 million tons of coal per year for Russia. Mr. Kemerovo is a part of the major coal producing Kuzbass region.

However, the minister in the Russian Government have declared compensation for the workers who have lost there lives in the mishap.
