Sensex Sheds 122.92 Pts; Maruti, Tata Steel, Hindalco Down
Indian bourses continued to fall for the second successive day on Friday.
At 10.30 am, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex stood at 19,059.90 after shedding 122.92 points (0.64%) with 23 components in the red.
In the meantime, the broad-based Nifty remained down by 35.60 points (0.62%) to trade at 5,716.30 with 39 components declining.
Today, the Sensex opened the day on a flat note after recording a gain of 15.22 points (0.08%) at 19,198.04, whereas the NSE Nifty started flat with a gain of 0.20 points at 5,752.10.
The major gainers in the 30-share index included RComm, Hindustan Unilever, Wipro, Mah & Mah, Infosys Tech and Tata Power Company.
In contrast, the major losers in the Sensex pack comprised Tata Motors, Hindalco Ind, L&T, HDFC, Tata Steel and Maruti Suzuki.
The BSE Mid and small cap indexes dropped 0.55% and 0.28% respectively.
Among sectoral indices, the Metal index slipped 296.35 points; the real estate index declined 37.74 points; the Auto index dropped 129.89 points while the IT index remaned up by 28.91 points.
