Save energy by buying the right computer
Berlin - There are potential savings out there for shoppers interested in energy efficiency and home computing. Different computers incur energy costs that make a difference of about 110 dollars, according to Germany's dena Energy Agency.
Shoppers interested in cutting energy costs should chose a laptop over a PC, as they are significantly more energy efficient, even including similar functions and the monitor.
Laptops with a 30 watt consumption or lower cost about 12.70 dollars in energy costs annually. On the other hand, a PC with efficient components consumes about 295 watts, which translates into about 126.75 dollars on the energy bill.
Anyone who wants to save some money should use a PC with a flat- screen monitor and a maximum energy consumption of 100 watts. (dpa)
