Sanjay Dutt Temporarily Released For A Month

Sanjay DuttMumbai: Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt is breathing easy at the moment. He will remain out of prison for an additional month after the TADA court decided to provide the actor with a judgment copy sending him to lockup for six years in the Mumbai serial blasts case only on September 27.

Dutt came to the TADA court on Monday with his attorneys, stating they were asked to collect the judgment copy. He spent about three weeks in jail after Judge PD Kode sounded out the decision before the apex court gave him release.

The apex court stated Dutt and five other offenders can apply for regular bail and file a petition against the TADA court decision after receiving its copy. Dutt was also asked to be present at the CBI office on every Friday, which is the prosecuting agency in the case.

In a short communication with newspersons, Dutt said he had complete faith in the country’s judicial system.

“I love my people. I love my fans. Thanks. Thank you very much. I thank the press. Thank you very much for being supportive,” he said.

The TADA court also adjudicated that other convicts involved in the case, excluding Sanjay and his confederates held under the Arms Act, will start getting judgment copies from September 14.
