Saeed was "principal architects" of Mumbai attacks, Clinton

Saeed was "principal architects" of Mumbai attacks, ClintonUS Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is on a visit to India, has said that the US believes that the Hafiz Saeed was one of the principal architects of Mumbai terror attacks adding that the bounty of $10 million on his head shows that the US is serious about the issue.

She also said that the US has asked Pakistan for not allowing terrorists to use its soil for launching terrorist attacks in other places. Mrs. Clinton described the bounty on Saeed as an "unmistakable message" of solidarity with India from the US government.

"As part of our 'Reward for Justice' programme, we have offered a USD 10 million reward that could lead to arrest or conviction of Saeed in those attacks. Our offer demonstrates our seriousness in obtaining additional information which can withstand judicial scrutiny and which leads to arrest and conviction and brings the perpetrators and planners of the Mumbai attacks to justice," she said.

She held extensive talks with External Affairs Minister S M Krishna in the Indian capital, New Delhi on issues including terrorism and Iran. While addressing the joint press conference, Krishna said that more needs to be done and the government is expecting authorities in Pakistan to take steps to make sue that its territory is not used as launching pads for terrorist attacks on any place in the world.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Clinton has also urged India to reduce oil imports from Iran, which is facing severe sanctions from western powers due to its dubious nuclear program. She asked the government to restrict its trade and energy ties with Tehran.
