London - Blackburn Rovers signed Denmark defender Lars Jacobsen on Monday.

The 29-year old, who joins from Everton where he featured only four times last season, has signed a two-year contract.

He is expected to play at right-back, taking the place in the squad vacated by Andre Ooijer, who has joined PSV Eindhoven, and Danny Simpson, who had been on loan from Manchester United.

Jacobsen is Blackburn's third signing of the summer, following midfielder Elrio van Heerden and left back Gael Givet.(dpa)
