Reliance Games acquires firms in Japan, SK

Reliance Games acquires firms in Japan, SKGlobal mobile gaming business of Reliance Big Entertainment, Reliance Games has acquired tow gaming firms in Japan and South Korea in order to expand its international presence. Reliance Games, which is a part of the ADAG, acquired mobile game development & publishing company in Japan and a mobile game development studio in South Korea.

Reliance Big Entertainment Japan, which is a subsidiary of the company, acquired Tokyo-based Funnel including the whole team and the IPs under development. The company has also set up a new entity, Reliance Games Japan that will manage the publishing of the games in the country. The company also appointed Hwa Seok Choi, who was working as the general manager at Funnel, as the chief revenue officer for Reliance Games Japan.

In South Korea, Reliance Big Entertainment Japan acquired 51 per cent stake in the gaming studio Bluesom. The company also acquired some of the IPs of Bluesom as a part of the acquisition deal. The new acquisition will allow the company to gain access to two of the world's largest mobile gaming markets.

The company has said that the two firms will focus on developing intellectual properties for the local customers in East Asian nations and will also work on research and development of multi-player mobile games aimed at western markets. The company is looking to the local market in a better manner.

Manish Agarwal, CEO of Reliance Entertainment Digital, said, "After the success of Real Steel and F1 2011 mobile games globally, Reliance Games has embarked on a journey to expand its business beyond the North American markets. With these acquisitions, the company wants to tap the $5.5 billion and $1.3 billion mobile gaming markets."
