BJP to finalise candidates for LS elections for Delhi, U.P soon

Delhi, BJP, UPNew Delhi, Jan 26, : Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday said that the party would finalise its list of all candidates for Delhi and more than half of Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming General Elections by January 29.

BJP will be able to finalize the list during its Central Election Committee (CEC) meet to be held between Jan. 28-29.

"I have called the next CEC meeting of BJP on January 28 and 29. We will finalise our Lok Sabha candidates for almost all the seats," BJP President Rajnath Singh told mediapersons in national capital on Monday.

Uttar Pradesh Police arrests four Bangladeshis for human trafficking

Uttar Pradesh MapLucknow, Jan 24, : Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested four Bangladeshis, including a woman, for their alleged involvement in human trafficking.

The Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) circle officer, Rajendra Singh said that they raided Sadar locality of Saharanpur district and nabbed four Bangladeshi nationals on Friday night.

Saharanpur is around 400 km from Lucknow.

The four accused confessed that other members of the group are active in various districts of Uttar Pradesh and other neighbouring states, like, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand.

Uttar Pradesh weavers make gigantic carpet for China hotel

Mathura, Uttar PradeshBhadohi (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 23 : Weavers in Bhadohi district of Uttar Pradesh made a gigantic carpet which will adorn the floors of a China hotel.

Made by around 200 weavers in three months'', the carpet measuring 113 feet in width and 160 feet in length.

The carpet has been made on a special order by China''s Hyatt hotel and this is the first time that such a big carpet has been made by these weavers.

Protest in Mathura against police firing on farmers

Mathura, Uttar PradeshMathura, Jan. 22 : Cutting across party lines, Samajwadi Party (SP), Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists staged a semi-naked protest here on Thursday to condemn the killing of a farmer in police firing.

The farmers were protesting against inadequate compensation for their lands, which were acquired for building 165 km long Greater Noida - Agra. expressway.

Raising slogans against the Uttar Pradesh Government, the activists said police opened fire without any warning.

The protesters also demanded imposition of President rule in the state.
