Champions Manchester United slip up with draw at Everton

Manchester UnitedLondon- Champions Manchester United slipped up in their pursuit of Chelsea and Liverpool at the top of the English Premier League on Saturday when they were held to a 1-1 draw at Everton.

Darren Fletcher put United in front on 22 minutes but Marouane Fellaini headed the equalizer for Everton with just under half an hour to go to give the home side a share of the spoils.

The point means United remain fifth, still five points behind Chelsea and Liverpool, who play each other at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

London, Oct 25 : A Brit couple has a collection of 4000 clocks and is turning them back as the British summertime ends.

The task will take Pauline West and her husband Roy at least two days as they unwind a collection covering pretty much every nook and corner of their two-bedroom flat.

“It’s a big job — all the clocks have to tell exactly the same time. But I’ve had plenty of practice and I’m a lot quicker than I used to be,” The Sun quoted West, as saying.

West, 57, and Roy, 64, who have been picking up clocks since ages and began buying them for a mere 50p, have run out of place to accommodate the clocks.

Kirk Douglas honoured for his humanitarian work

London, Oct 25 : American actor Kirk Douglas was honoured by a host of stars at a dinner in Los Angeles for his humanitarian work.

Present at the Shoah Foundation''s Ambassadors for Humanity dinner was director Steven Spielberg, who established the foundation in 1994 to collect and preserve stories from Holocaust survivors, and who also praised the 91-year-old actor saying he had “saved many lives”.

Douglas and wife have over the past decade funded the construction of 400 playgrounds in LA''s schools.

“Kirk Douglas, in a way, has saved many lives - not just through his art, but through his humanitarian contributions to the planet,” the BBC quoted Spielberg as saying.

Halliwell, whose cartoon book ‘Ugenia Lavender’ has become a huge hit with the kids will soon be made into an animated flick, with Halliwell voicing Lavender.

Broomsticks and devil's forks deemed hazardous for Brit kids’ health!

London, Oct 25 : British nursery Langham Pre-School, near Colchester, Essex, has banned kids from bringing in broomsticks and pitchforks or other such objects during Hallowe''en.

Due to health and safety fears, the pre-school’s committee decided upon the ban, especially after a child was hurt last year.

However, it did not sit well with the parents, who have criticised it as health and safety gone too far.

Sally Cowley, a 39-year-old mother-of-two who runs the nearby Boxted mother and toddler group, finds the decision sad.

“I think it''s sad it has come to this. It''s the same as banning conkers,” the Telegraph quoted her as saying.
