Colombo - International aid officials expressed concern Monday about artillery bombardments that hit a hospital in a Tamil rebel-controlled area in northern Sri Lanka and killed at least eight people.
UNICEF spokesman James Elder said the organization confirmed that the hospital in Pudukudirippu, 385 kilometres north-east of Colombo, had been shelled twice Sunday night.
Colombo - warned ambassadors, news agencies and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to act "with responsibility" as security forces were set to defeat the Tamil rebels.
In an interview with the Sunday Island newspaper, Rajapaksa warned that those acting irresponsibly will face "dire consequences" if they "attempt to give the LTTE terrorists a second breath of life".

Karachi, Jan. 30 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to give Shoaib Akhtar one more chance to prove his fitness ahead of the forthcoming two match Test series against Sri Lanka.
According to The News, PCB will be organising two special trial matches next month during which Akhtar's performance will be judged, and a final decision on whether to include him for the Test series or not will be made.
Ahktar, who is struggling to regain his form and fitness, made a comeback in the international arena after a long gap of 14 months, in the recently concluded one-day series against Sri Lanka.
