The sleazy images are widely passed around, according to the survey of 1,280 teenagers and young adults by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy and CosmoGirl. com.

A third of teenage boys and a quarter of teenage girls said they had nude or semi-nude images - originally meant to be private - shared with them.

In a blog posting, the company's director of security Max Kelly said the award by the US District Court in San Jose was the largest judgment in history for an action brought under the country's anti- spam legislation, known as the Controlling the Assault of Non- Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act (CAN-SPAM).

It would be the first decline since the aftermath of the dot-com bust in 2001.

The trade group predicted 2009 chip sales worth 246.7 billion dollars, down from projected sales of 261.2 billion dollars this year, which would be a sales increase of 2.2 per cent from 2007.
