Delicate Punjabi cuisine, a major hit at Chandigarh hotel

Chandigarh, Aug 8 : Having a taste of the Punjab with no border barriers, ''Dera'', a newly opened restaurant is an eclectic mix of robust and delicately flavoured cuisine.

The antiques, the decor and everything else at this restaurant inside the Taj Hotel in Chandigarh, takes one on a nostalgic trip.

Inaugurated recently what is unique about ''Dera'' are the special ''phulka'' and ''Tadka'' trolleys used for serving guests fresh and warm food.

The food served here is primarily of the Northern Frontier region, Amritsar, Lahore and Peshawar.

The unique selling point of this restaurant is the variety of vegetarian dishes and the interactive kitchen, which customises cuisine for food lovers. 

Gurbachan Singh formerly appointed acting Jathedar of Akal Takht

Akal-TakhtAmritsar, Aug. 7 : Heads of various Sikh organizations on Thursday witnessed the annointment and coronation of Giani Gurbachan Singh as the acting Jathedar of the Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of the Sikh community.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committee (SGPC), the largest representative body of the Sikhs, had appointed Giani Gurbachan Singh as a new acting Jathedar of Akal Takht on Tuesday following the resignation of Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti.

Akal TakhtAmritsar, Aug. 5: Giani Gurbachan Singh was today named the acting Jathedar of the Akal Takht, a day after his predecessor, Joginder Singh Vedanti, resigned from the same post.

The Akal Takht is the highest temporal seat of the Sikh community. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committee (SGPC) had asked for Vedanti's resignation on Monday night, and on Tuesday, it accepted it formally.

Earlier, Vedanti told reporters that SGPC General Secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhaur and Executive Member Rajinder Singh Mehta had asked for his resignation.

Medical service provider Fortis Health Care has decided to establish a Fortis To Set Up Medical Institute In Punjabmedical institute that will also have a cancer research hospital, in Punjab with an initial investment of Rs 100 crore.

Fortis Healthcare CEO Shivinder Singh stated, “We have submitted a detailed plan to Punjab Government to upgrade the healthcare services in the state, which includes setting a medical education centre that would include nursing school, OPD centre and a large cancer hospital.”
