New York, Sept. 25 : Deeply hurt by the recent bombings in India and Pakistan, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday evening decided that their respective governments will take the menace head on.
Dr. Singh, in particular, took a strong stand against terrorism during their meeting in New York on the sidelines of the 63rd session of the UN General Assembly.
New York, Sept. 25 : Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday sought to revive Kashmir as the "core issue" of its ties with neighbouring India, and described the unrest in Jammu and Kashmir as "an indigenous uprising".
"Kashmir remains the core issue in India-Pakistan relations. The ongoing uprising in Kashmir is an indigenous one," Zardari told Pakistani media persons at a briefing at Barclays Intercontinental here ahead of his meeting with the Indian Prime Minister.
Islamabad - At least 15 people, including a school girl and three soldiers, were killed Wednesday in a suicide bombing and clashes between Taliban militants and security forces in various parts of Pakistan, officials said.
A pedestrian suicide bomber blew up near a convoy of six to seven vehicles carrying paramilitary Frontier Corpse (FC) personnel in Quetta, the capital of the north-western province of Balochistan.
"Thirteen FC personnel and one passerby were injured while four schoolgirls were also wounded. One of the girls later on expired at the hospital," Asif Nawaz, Quetta police chief, told Geo news channel.
Quetta, Sept 24 : At least one person was killed and 19 others injured in a suicide attack at the airport road near Askari park in Quetta on Wednesday.
Islamabad, Sept 24 : The Marriott Hotel, which was reduced to ashes in Saturday''s massive suicide attack detonated by around 600 kg RDX, will be opened from December 31.
Around 1500 workers have been pressed into service to meet the task, the Daily Times quoted the owner of the Marriott Hotel Sadaruddin Hashwani as saying.
The catering service will begin the next 15 days as facilities like kitchen, health club, swimming pool and restaurants were still intact, Hashwani added.
