President condoles passing away of Puducherry Lt. GovernorNew Delhi, Apr 6 : President Pratibha Patil has condoled the passing away of Puducherry Lt. Governor Govind Singh Gurjar.

In a condolence message to his wife, Kamlesh Gurjar, the President said, " Gurjar was a well-known public figure, who worked for the welfare of the people in Rajasthan, during his public life. His passing away is a deep loss for the people, especially for those in Rajasthan."

Gurjar died following a cardiac arrest here on Monday.

"Gurjar always kept up the high traditions of public life, and discharged his duties as the Lt. Governor of Puducherry with grace and dignity," he said.

Delhi''s India Habitat Centre plays host to Australian aboriginal art exhibitsNew Delhi, Apr. 6 : Warlukurlangu Artists, Australia, in partnership with art curator, Durga Vishwanathan, are showcasing contemporary Australian art in New Delhi.

Titled `Desert Dreamings', the paintings from the Central Desert of Australia is the first exhibition of contemporary art of Central Australian Indigenous artists in India. The exhibition is being held between April 6 to 12.

Four killed in blast in India's Assam state

AssamNew Delhi - At least four people were killed by a car-bomb in India's north-eastern state of Assam Monday, news reports said.

More than 20 people were wounded in the explosion that occurred in the crowded market area in the Maligaon suburb of state capital Guwahati, the NDTV network reported.

Several cars and shops caught fire following the bombing and fire tenders were rushed to the area to douse the blaze, the report said.

Authorities said they suspected Assam's biggest separatist outfit, United Liberation Front of Asom.
